Point: This volume's a major turning point in the whole fight for Izumi's heart. Haru finally manages to confess, Hitomi starts opening up wanting to get closer to him, but the biggest change is Amane. She's always been terrified of losing her spot as Izumi's best friend, but once she realizes he's actually been paying attention to and valuing her this whole time, she stops hiding behind the "just friends" label and confesses by kissing him. That kiss also shakes Nanao's confidence for the first time, someone who's always been calm and sure she'd win in the end.

Note: Heroines who've already confessed to Izumi: Nanao, Hakua, Meina, Kasumi. Not yet confessed: Amane, Haru, Inori, Hitomi. *Inori and Hitomi are more of a joke pairing, Hitomi does have feelings but it leans more fetish than romance.
★ Right before the summer trip to Atami, Amane runs into her cousin who just got divorced after her husband cheated. Her cousin tells her that love alone isn't always enough to keep a relationship going once you're an adult. That hits Amane hard, she's always treated her feelings for Izumi as something special, but kept finding excuses not to say it. Now she's starting to wonder if feelings that are never spoken actually mean anything.
★ Amane tries psyching herself up, seeing the Atami trip as her chance to finally catch up to Nanao, Hakua, Meina, and Kasumi. Right after convincing herself "Amane's gonna be fine," her sandal strap snaps and she face plants.
★ Amane, Haru, and Inori hold a meeting as the "haven't confessed yet" girls squad, feeling pathetic since the other four already confessed. Plan one is seducing Izumi with swimsuits, but comparing themselves to Nanao, Hakua, Meina, and Kasumi just sends them spiraling into despair over losing the chest size competition. The strategy meeting turns into a full on complaint session about "growth disparities in the chest region."
★ To beef up the squad they recruit Hitomi, who seems mature and reliable, but she's got her own agenda, she suspects Izumi's playing multiple girls at once. More and more pretty girls keep showing up at his workplace looking for him while he stays nice to everyone without giving clear answers, so Hitomi wants to use this trip to investigate whether he's a genuinely good guy or a shady harem builder.
★ Hitomi drives to Atami with Izumi riding shotgun and eight girls crammed in back. The chaos starts early, Nanao and Hakua bond over new chocolate snacks from Hakua's family company, Kasumi mocks the snacks as cheap while shamelessly eating the most of it, blaming it on skipping breakfast when called out.
★ Kasumi then lists her standards for a woman worthy of Izumi, pretty, smart, natural leader, fully devoted, willing to dedicate her life to him. Everyone immediately points at Hakua as the perfect match, Hakua offers to be called "sister in law," while Kasumi screams that she was actually describing herself. Ever since losing that earlier game match, Kasumi's gone from feared to everyone's favorite punching bag.
★ Watching from the driver's seat, Hitomi's suspicions only grow seeing Izumi as the lone guy surrounded by eight pretty girls. Izumi gets offended when she asks if he even has guy friends, he'd actually tried inviting some along but the girls unanimously vetoed it, now he's low key questioning if he actually has any male friends.
★ The Sumie family villa turns out way more luxurious than expected, spacious living room, full kitchen, huge bathroom, ocean view. Kasumi brags it was a gift from their dad when she started middle school. Hakua tries to one up her claiming hers is bigger, but Meina blows her cover revealing Hakua's family actually wants to sell theirs because upkeep's too much hassle, tanking Hakua's flex instantly.
★ First problem, room assignments. Five bedrooms, all built for two people, eight girls plus one guy. Izumi decides four rooms go to paired up heroines while he sleeps alone in the last one. The girls are not happy about it. Inori tries claiming some fake illness that requires sleeping alone, an excuse so bad Izumi immediately calls her out on when she supposedly got diagnosed.
★ After some scheming, Haru lands the spot as Izumi's roommate for night one. Nanao actually helped set it up out of guilt, Haru had already worked up the courage to confess once during that game match against Kasumi, but got interrupted at the worst possible moment. Nanao wants to give her a second shot at finishing what she started.
★ That afternoon, Nanao takes Izumi grocery shopping, Hakua tags along insisting cooking duty's hers. While looking for Hitomi to help drive, Izumi accidentally spots Kasumi inspecting swimsuits, she's checking because she's convinced Meina's gonna bring something too revealing to tempt Izumi, and sure enough, finds Meina's skimpy pick.
★ Then Izumi finds an even more scandalous one, basically just scraps of fabric and string. He tries lecturing Meina about not bringing anything too indecent, but she denies owning it, so does Kasumi. Turns out it's Hakua's, who goes bright red when Kasumi calls it shameless. Izumi panics and tries comforting her by saying she'd look good in anything, which somehow makes her even more embarrassed instead of better.
★ Once Amane finds out Hakua and Nanao are shopping with Izumi, she announces a curry cook off. Team Hakua's just her and Nanao, Team Amane's got Amane, Haru, Inori, and Hitomi. Amane talks a big game like she's got some secret strategy, reality is Haru and Inori can barely cook and Hitomi rarely touches a kitchen, so the whole team's riding on Amane, who's still not that great herself.
★ At the supermarket, Izumi walks around with Nanao and Hakua hanging off both his arms, whispering sweet nothings while shoppers stare thinking they're witnessing a harem live. Meanwhile Team Amane spies from behind the shelves, judging the PDA as scandalous, not realizing four pretty girls hiding behind shelves staring at one guy is drawing just as much attention.
★ The curry match exposes the skill gap hard. Hakua brings her own spice blend and whips up curry from scratch with Nanao keeping up easily. Meanwhile Amane's stuck teaching her team how to hold a knife, cut onions, peel carrots, Hitomi peels her carrot so aggressively it ends up looking like a tiny root.
★ Amane's "secret weapon" is literally just mixing three brands of instant curry roux because her mom once said it tastes better that way. Haru tries saving her dignity by calling it genius strategy. Somehow, despite the chaos, Team Amane's curry actually turns out good, simple and homey. For Izumi, who grew up on fancy food his whole life, that comfort food taste hits different in the best way.
★ Since it's a competition though, Izumi ends up picking Hakua's curry as the winner based on quality. Amane practically collapses like her whole effort meant nothing, but bounces back after tasting Hakua's curry herself and frustratedly admitting it really is that good. Loss aside, successfully making edible curry is still huge growth for Amane, considering her cooking history includes coating everything in chocolate.
★ After dinner, Meina proposes a card tournament with the prize being bath time with Izumi. He shuts that down hard, while Hitomi takes it as more proof of the shady lifestyle she's investigating. Meina adjusts the terms, they'll use cards to decide whether Izumi's request for separate baths gets honored instead. The girls secretly conspire to make sure he loses.
★ What they don't know, Izumi grew up with serious business training from the Sumie family and basically never loses at cards. Meina's plan to read his expressions fails completely, he fakes reactions to mislead her and controls the games without anyone catching on. Baba Nuki, Daifugo, memory match, poker, doesn't matter, he sweeps everything. Card night turns into a straight up massacre, and ironically Kasumi, who brags most about her Sumie family upbringing, ends up losing to her brother the most. Izumi keeps his solo bath privileges intact.
★ Night one centers on Haru. In the bathroom, Meina and Inori hype her up to make the most of rooming with Izumi. Haru's still super shy about it, but Nanao already gave her the shot to finish her confession. Meina explains Nanao's helping her rivals because she genuinely loves Izumi enough to not want him boxed into just one relationship where he suppresses his own feelings out of obligation, that's not the kind of life Nanao wants for him.
★ When Haru walks into the room, Izumi has zero clue what's going on. She's in new pajamas holding a big pillow meant for two, but he assumes she's just there to supervise and make sure he doesn't do anything weird. The awkward silence leads to a full misunderstanding, when he tells her to go to sleep, she takes it as an invitation of a different kind, climbs into his bed blushing hard, and says she'll "do her best."
★ Still clueless, Izumi thinks maybe she just prefers that side of the bed and offers to switch spots. Haru takes that as rejection and grabs him to stop him from moving. They end up lying together in the same bed, facing each other, both too nervous to sleep.
★ Izumi finally asks about what she tried to say during the game match against Kasumi. Haru almost bails again, but remembers how persistence got her through tough games before, she can't give up just because this "game" called love is way harder. She finally says it clearly, she likes him, and apologizes for always talking to him harshly.
★ Izumi thanks her for saying it a second time. He doesn't give an answer yet, but promises to start reading her sharp comments as tsundere behavior from now on. She calls him oblivious and painfully slow at noticing people's feelings. Nothing else happens that night besides them sleeping side by side, but Haru finally gets her confession through.
★ Next morning, the girls find Izumi petting Haru's head in bed. Half asleep, he'd mistaken her hair for his family's deceased Pomeranian's fur. Chaos ensues, Hakua goes pale, Inori freezes up, Hitomi mutters about the harem theory again. Meina pulls Haru aside to confirm nothing happened, comes back giving the all clear signal, though proving a guy did literally nothing while sleeping next to a pretty girl somehow feels like another insult to Izumi's pride instead of a compliment.
★ On the private beach, Izumi talks with Suzuki, Kasumi's caretaker and secretary. Suzuki jokingly offers to hire fake delinquents so Izumi can play hero and save the girls like some cliché romance scene, Izumi declines knowing full well those "villains" would just be SUMIE Group employees ordered to lose on purpose.
★ The conversation turns serious. Izumi asks whether he or Kasumi's the better fit to inherit the family business. Suzuki says Kasumi's more suited to lead while Izumi might be better as support. Even though he half expected that answer, it still stings. Suzuki adds that suitability isn't everything, personal will matters too. When asked about his dad's opinion, Suzuki clearly dodges, and Izumi notices she's hiding something but doesn't push.
★ Later the girls bury Izumi in the sand with a watermelon by his head for a game, but the real prize isn't breaking the watermelon, whoever successfully hits Izumi's head with the plastic bat gets to be his roommate that night. Amane goes first without knowing the real rule, and everyone gives her fake directions on purpose, making her smash a watermelon labeled "fail" instead.
