If you took a second to think instead of immediately trying to critique like a smartass you'd probably have come to the conclusion that they are not "specifically" going to any of these place they are just moving in the direction towards the nearest spirit country and in the process running into all these events because the going around would take longer

In a way, I feel bad for the hag, because though she was making an entertainment district too, she WAS trying to make it appealing to spirits to the best of her knowledge. Everyone believed the spirits adored the hero, everyone believes spirits love shiny things, so she made the biggest shiniest hero statue out there - and she bet everything on that statue, to disastrous results.
Take away the evil meme faces and the over the top evil act that was randomly thrown in, and she just seemed like someone who was trying to make the best church.
