I know his arm got hurt then he couldn't play baseball, but what then? What lead to the huge divide with his team?

Depends on the team. As somebody who has played sports at a variety of levels, there definitely was different rules about if girlfriends/girls could be present or not, mostly depending on how serious the team the team was about being competitive. It never went so far as to outright ban dating for the teams I was on, but I could see a high school team do that if there had been a lot of drama previously with girls (granted 100% that rule would be broken; athletes be horny as fuck).

Well he was a pain in the ass about his fucked shoulder and caused a lot of trouble for the team by messing up matches. The bigger divide was the messy "breakup" with his bff and the confrontation with the other team members, especially the black hair dude with the spiky hair. And now he is sulking about doing rehab and no longer being the always on field star player and he kills the vibe of the team.
