She really is a poison to everyone who interacts with her. Yet again she assumes a person's motives with her biased mind.

Some other people pointed this out, but Shira comes from Samarkand, which was conquered by the Khwarezmian Empire only 10 years before the Mongols sacked it. Some of his earliest memories probably include civilian mass executions (assuming he’s around Sitara’s age).

I think part of the reason he’s so much more willing to forgive the Mongols compared to Sitara is that he didn’t have nearly as good of a life in Persia as she did.

Remember, this is someone whose reaction to unintentionally getting all of a tribe's women parceled off like property was, "when we cause bad things it's still ultimately good, because the rage gets directed towards the Empire." If you admit to Sitara that you're a potential security risk for her the only place you're going is the one-way street to Collateral Damage.
