It's a particularly fun brand of Messed Up that Igarashi has apparently known Tomikawa since childhood and let her main takeaway morph into "this is a uniquely broken person that no one else can help but me", def seems like she has her own unfortunate childhood that helped shape that mindset but, hoo

Tomikawa's internal freakout about her perceiving Hiiragi's words as coldness too... communication is key but communication ain't easy, keep at it, girls.......

Cooking up 2 theories here:
1. Igarashi is going through something like having been put through abuse and found escapism in "playing with toys" aka Hiragi. This would have left Igarashi to notice the codependency and wanted to fill the gap that she left after being separated for a while.
2. Igarashi found her to be useful for her own selfish desires and wants to keep her around whenever it's convenient. (Maybe a screwed up sense of romance or otherwise)

Sensei is cooking with this manga and only more tragedy and heartbreak to come from messed up individuals.

I'm gonna miss your updates on these beans, just hope the next compilation doesn't take too long to release, because I need more people to see where these two go from here.

My own Japanese is very, VERY poor but when I get the chance I'll try and share more of the twitter extras and bonus comics that didn't make it into the compilation. For now, have a lil meta comic Inuyama drew after the sushi arc.

As for the fanbox stuff, even if you can't read Japanese I highly recommend subbing to her fanbox and reading the comics about Tomikawa's brothers. MTL isn't very reliable but you should be able to get enough to understand some of why Tomikawa is how she is (and the struggles her brothers are going through at the same time).

What I find most interesting about Igarashi right now is the friend who keeps pointing out how weird she is. Like it's one thing to be in a constant affirmation loop like Tomikawa is or have that one toxic enabling friend, it's another to have someone repeatedly point out the flaws in your logic and still be running headlong into your own fucked up mindset because you have convinced yourself that you're the only one who can fix her.

Been one of the only English-speaking fans for over a year now, and yes, yes it has been. I live in a constant state of terror and panic every time Inuyama-Sensei posts.

At this point it isn't about communication. Tomikawa is so broken, dependent and hates herself so much that even if Hiiragi straight up said everything as it is, Tomikawa would still doubt her.
Hell, couple of chapters back Hiiragi said she would die for Tomikawa and now here they are doubting eachother for something insane like "what kind of donuts are we having?"

Like I said before, Hiiragi seemed like the "biggest problem" when the series started but Tomikawa is WAY worse, she's a walking nuke waiting to happen.
