personality wise, Kaoru isn't worth saving, but utility-wise Sunny probably judged that the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

Kaoru betraying them is obvious main risk, but Sunny did talk with her brother and Yuu about her, and along with her background check on her, Sunny probably has a good picture of her personality (psychoanalysis) so Sunny probably has a good plan for convincing her

as mentioned, the main benefit of saving her is to organize the cult whom they all spared - since otherwise , they might have to kill them all (since who knows what disorganized criminals with firearm experience would do), which will be a burden on everyone's psyches - especially Yuu's.
