first of all guys, thanks for the translations, i was waiting for this fight since the raws.
My favorite so far in the whole arc, i like how Shimada finally adresses the odd moments of Robin and Warsman's relationship that had never been addressed to this day, also great character work on Robin and Pessimiman here. Pessimiman means well, he was changed by warsman as much as he denies it, and he wants to repay the debt, but IMO he seems to be projecting his own struggles and distrust on the gods on Robin and Warsman, by constantly calling Robin a manipulator, a POS, hell he might even find him a massive narcisist and he believes in that so hard he awakens Burning Inner Strenght, but the thing is... he is only half right, because he also doesn't know how Robin feels nor his resolve and because of that this has become personal for Robin.
I also love how Robin begins the match by fully accepting his place in this narrative, but as soon as he sees Pessimiman reversing one of his signature moves with the help of Warsman's coaching he breaks down, in a mix of regret, excitement and even pride, pride for how much Warsman has grown despite everything, and then he finds the resolve to somehow re-do all of his own "failures" as a teacher by helping Pessimiman find a new answer, the whole thing wraps all of Robin's, Warsman's and even Pessimiman's on-going character development together in a very interesting way.
Yeah, people keep telling me they love the way I did their interaction, I put a lot into it, to show both sides, I'm not translating this like a manga, I tell people this all the time, I'm translating it as you'd see an actual wrestling show, so there's way more emotion and feelings poured out, then just mindless text, and I love working on Pessimiman's lines, I feel him, so it's fun for me to work his dialogue a lot, Robin's like the complete opposite like 2 magnets, and I explored both of them completely on a different level, I made slight changes and I did it differently this time around so it made more sense, but also came across as like do or die, and I think it came out a million times better, every volume I try to outdo the last translation, so yeah, I had a lot of fun with this, and my editor nailed it very nicely, also, I'm really happy everyone's enjoying the volume we put out, that means a lot.
Regarding the story:
Also, I think that's a great assessment, Pessimiman blames every single person except for himself, and while he is brutally strong and can kill just about anyone, he's held back by his mistrust in people and his closed-mindedness, he thinks living in despair and torment is completely normal, when it isn't, that's completely self-destructive behavior, but once he fought Warsman, he opened up a little bit, but he became overly emotional when he did, calling Robin a piece of shit, saying he's a fucking manipulator, like he's not cursing him to curse him, he's cursing him cause he's trying to put the blame on Robin, when all that happened to Warsman, I believe since Pessimiman's also a Robot Chojin, he's acting like he was victimized as well, when that had absolutely nothing to do with him.
In a way, you can say, as angry and pissed off Pessimiman shows himself, after his fight with Warsman, he felt compassion for him on the premise that they're both actually the same, when they aren't, they're completely opposite, but Warsman's Friendship Power touched Pessimiman's heart and made him see things differently, which the Five Great Times are supposed to be ultra heels, he chose to be completely neutral. There's also the fact they both have masters, Warsman has Robin and Pessimiman has the God of Time, and both masters were also harsh, hence why Warsman was a literal killer earlier on in the series, and Pessimiman is basically a killer, Robin's role is to show Pessimiman that he's the student going against the master, and the master always comes out on top, it has nothing to do with ego's, it has everything to do with respect, which Robin ultimately shows him why respect matters most.
