Got to admit, I'm a bit surprised. It's been long obvious that Elma was some kind of nobility. But I always figured that the elves were doing their own thing, and she was some kind of runaway Elven princess or some such.

I had figured Mimi was the one that was secretly imperial nobility, unbeknownst to her. That might still happen, but it feels redundant, with Elma now.

"I guess he's not going to be calm when his runaway daughter suddenly comes back with some nobody mercenary", he says, shortly after learning he's only the fourth mercenary in the history of the empire to receive his latest award.

It isn't like Hiro has a weird magnet for Nobles. Serena, Chris, Elma. . . Redundancy? Sir, this is a pattern.

Anyways, so begins Hiro growing into a very scary swordsman.

For additional context, in the LN corresponding to this chapter, there was an entire bonus chapter from Elma's POV of her encounter and eventual joining with Hiro. It was explained that while she considered contacting her family about the massive debt, the system she was in is so far away that the communication would not reach her family in time, even with hyperspace & gateway comms.

Edit: Also, she sent the comms anyways since even if they can't get to her in time, they could at least get her off prison afterwards. Guess who is coming home while their family knows she could not pay off her debt and is now traveling with a merc. :dogkek:
They could still add that in... but that's not the worst thing they could have cut out...

THE POOL EPISODE! GOD DAMN IT! :meguuusad:

BUT THERE'S ONE MORE CHANCE
THERE'S STILL A CHANCE THAT WE WILL GET TO SEE IT IN THE SEASON 2 OF THE ANIME!
I BELIEVE!

He's already specialized as a pilot. Sword fighting in this setting sounds very niche so it's not something to learn without reason and even then you won't catch up with people who have studied it for years. Heck, he couldn't even legally carry it until recently. It's like me telling you to learn sword fighting irl because you might need it at 0.01% probability, but you can't usually have it on you legally.
That's not particularily true. There are in-universe physical-boost implants, as well as things like "Full VR" training courses, so it would be possible to catch up with someone with years of experience in a few months (year and something if you need to get fresh implants). The reason for hero learning the sword so fast, and being this strong, without any implants is a spoiler though.

Basically other than the technological factions we saw so far, there is a "religious" faction using psychic powers to power their ships, and even a single one of their elite soldiers can defeat multiple enhanced nobles in a fight. Hero, being a "spirited away" person also has that power, albeit he can't control it - it's the reason for all the "random" trouble he seems to be getting into, why he can slow down time when he holds his breath, and why despite being unenhanced he can almost keep up with physical powerhouse combat maidroid. To be completely honest, current Hiro is pretty damn powerless compared to what post-awakening Hiro can do.

It's actually a nice joke in this series' case when Hiro wanted to stay away from nobles, to avoid getting tied into their power plays and politics, in order to remain an unfettered mercenary. Instead he's associating with them all the time, receiving awards granted by nobles/royals, and even his harem turns out to include a noble daughter. Or possibly two.

Man, I love the "each heroine turns out to be a princess" trope!
Also I can more or less tell how it goes from there from other works of this author.
I bet Elma's big brother is gonna keep grilling MC non-stop. Just your typical hardcore siscon who can't let go of his little sister, like in every other manga or anime :dogkek:

What I really hate about these incarnation or like suddenly got transported to another world mangas but ESPICALLY THE INCARNATED manga is they DONT LEARN TO FUCKING FIGHT!??!!? or just get COMBAT POWER!!! when world has like people carrying swords and there is a knight order and adventure type shit.
THANK GOD HE HAS LEARNED COMBAT in his human form type shit.

He does know how to fight in-person and has throughout the series; using guns and power armour, or did you forget how he got his swords in the first place?

He's learning how to use the swords now because he's gotten involved with noble society, so might need to know how to duel.
