edit: the previous name was too sensitive so the publishers asked the author to change the name and make a whole new series instead to continue it. sensitive as in, credit card company issues situation. it could get cancelled

Wow... so not only did the publisher cave into card company demands, author retconned the origin of the girls. This is just depressing. I'm genuinely terrified for the implications this has on manga as a whole, hell, even on all Japanese media. This publisher is proving that credit card threats work for censorship, so that's the foot in the door. Now they're going to slowly pry it open until Visa & Mastercard pretty much dictate the standards of what is and isn't allowed. No loli/shota content, no rape or slavery, no killing or gore, no anything if you want to actually sign with a publisher.

Credit card companies have been fucking over anything R18 including eroge and other media when it's even remotely sexual. iirc a major Japanese phone eroge storefront had to start their own online payment processor because of Visa/MasterCard.

They are way more lenient on violence and murder though.

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder if this is even right though. The publisher for this series is Comic Toranoana, parent company of Fantia, who suspended Master/Visa payment in 2024. They also have their own payment option called Tora Coin listed as an alternative. Not sure what's going on then unless the suspension was reversed.

What is the reason a new title was created? Couldn't the old one have been renamed to the new one, with a note in the description informing about the name change?

It is goddamn ridiculous that a Japanese manga, which has no officlal English translation, has to change its Japanese name because a subset of Americans shit themselves when they see a word that translates to 'slave'.
