But this really is a more volatile issue than I first thought. I thought it was just the dragons having followed the humans because they couldn't continue to live in their old home and now being aggressive towards the remnants of the humans that originally left the old world, but it seems that it is an exodus of all the people of the old world.

Though I do also think that the other races of the old world should be more afraid of the current humans, not the remnants of the humans that left the old world, because if I understood the history correctly, the humans in the old world were at war with the dragons specifically, not the other races, so the remnants of the old humans wouldn't target the other races, only the dragons. The current living humans in the other hand are unfamiliar with the other races and will consider them monsters.
