I'm surprised by the amount of hate in the comments. I thought this was the best chapter of this anthology in a while.
It felt very realistic, like this is what would happen if someone brought one of their cheesy condemnation plots in front of a court in real life. It was pretty refreshing to see everyone dealing with the matter in a level-headed way, unlike other stories where they would present even the most obvious of counterevidence with overly dramatic flair. I also found it pretty funny too that the "villainess" had evidence of actual real crimes waiting in the wings. And I love that in the end, the two turned out to be just a couple of dorks in love.
Thank you for translating this Reiconn. Please take care of your health first though!
To be fair, a few DO have good explaination for why the assholes get believed! I remember "Duke's Daughter" pointed out that "because it was the Prince Ex of the FMC doing it" they couldn't come to her defense, less they suffer "Les Mejetes" HOWEVER just because the Ex BULLIED his way into getting what he wanted, it didn't change that a large amount of the crowd were on FMC side and it wasn't that hard for her to come back to high society later (more her mother dragging her because she was too workaholic back at their territory)
Honestly I love that story (wish the manga would fucking update!) BECAUSE of it doing what I like about ANOTHER Otome story I love "Fiancee Observation" where the gripes with Otome ARE pointed out and viciously mocked (In that one's case, I had a GRIN when the MC, Prince Cecil took a SHOT at the "Reverse Harem" ending when the Villainess FL Bertia brought it up, in a modern girls view, seems so ROMANTIC and "Dreamy" but realistically with the settings Era "common sense" the "Heroine" would be condemned as a Slut which is VERY BAD as SHE, not the Villainess would get shipped off to a Nunnery for it while the "powerful men all fighting and willing to debase themselves as SLUTS FOR THE HEROINE" will be mocked for being such Fools! Being a SIMP in an era AND positions where being seen as weak can be a DEATH SENTENCE"both literally AND figuretely!" The last part because "if you're this easily manipulated by a MERE WOMAN then maybe trusting you in power/something important might not be a great idea!" Can't trust a Lord with ALOT of power if he's so easily lead by the nose by a Woman, worse a COMMONER TURNED LOW NOBLE at that!) as well as how "the reincarnate in question aren't 100% always right" (There was something funny about Bertia ending up with her Dark Spirit Cat Maid pact partner and never realized she made a pact with her by ACCIDENT because "it was never brought up in the story" and her only concern is "Dark means EVIL" so that makes her a BETTER VILLAINESS! Or that she was caught off guard when she was having a baby brother because her SPOILING a major event that caused the OG Bertia and her father to become evil was her mother dying from a plague....however telling Cecil about it that makes him "get the antidote ingredients ready" on a whim assures the deaths that were suppose to happen never happen, and because her mother never dies, not ONLY does her father remain honorable, only "acting evil" when Cecil makes him aware two corrupt nobles who approached him, one of them was a pedo who targeted Bertia earning her father's ire and willingness to "fake" becoming "Fallen" for the sake of bringing them down! Of course he "got it on" with his wife with "thankful to be alive" sex that resulted in said brother's birth. And of course I think it was the first I saw that showed "how the Heroine gained so many followers" ain't because she's cute, her Light Spirit was mind controlling, which is prevents! Oh and the event that saved Bertia mother ALSO saved one of the OTHER "villainess" from getting sick that makes her frail in the future, leading to her "the Knight" fiancee from the Heroine's OG Harem from straying since she's healthy, their able to bond VERY EARLY on the same interests of being healthy nuts. Preventing the Heroine from being able to start his route since "he has no interest in straying")
