In case you're curious, the actual reason is that asking to be pampered is usually considered emasculating.

Traditionally a man is meant to strive towards being a provider, protector, and font of strength within their community. Within that logic, asking to be taken care of/pampered is a twofold admission of weakness. Both that you're not strong enough to handle the burdens of life on your own and that you've "lowered" yourself into the role of someone who's taken care of instead of providing for others.

Which sucks, because we could all use some pampering every now and then.

The ending panel was... weird? The new girl picked up - seemingly her friend - Chito and then scolded Chito, but we end up her looking at the MC?? The rest of the dialogue sounds like she KNOWS it's her friend who went too far and she already told her not to go too far. So if anything she should be apologizing on Chito's behalf no? I think the author was going for a dramatic entrance to end the chapter on, but it just doesn't match the situation or dialogue.
