This arc is flawed especially with how hard it tries to justify the horrible mother. The affair partner too I really don't like how he was written, I feel like I would have actually respected him more if he was just honest that he only cared about his daughter being saved, trying to make him seem like a good person was dumb.
Well, in real life, it's quite realistic actually, especially if you're live as Asians
It's quite like culture, especially for cheaters
Sometimes, you can find anomaly shenanigans, such like:
"We are ur biological parents, so give us inheritance from ur adoptive parents, because we are the one that birth you to the world"

Brushing off cheating and having your now ex-husband raise the affair kid, to then say "it was a lie" for saying something so horrible about your own child. Getting engaged to the lover after a divorce... she does not regret it. Shame.

Props for the author to understand how kindness over pride can be done, that's basically forgiveness, show kindness but not forget.
Well, author really knows how to portray this kind of person

She's having trouble with her husband, went after a single man who's also struggling and seduced him, got pregnant with another man's child, pushed her child to his ex husband, left her child without a mother.

Damn she's so unforgivable. She doesn't deserve to be happy after causing so much shit.

After some time sitting with this chapter, I'd actually argue they were.
Ryouta told his mom to her face that he at one point resented her, but also that her actions lead to him discovering a family and friendships that are super important to him now. He didn't forgive her, merely acknowledged that he also couldn't let his resentment get in the way of what he had now, which is why he sought closure in this moment.

And, him being this kind in his delivery of his farewell is an actually-effective example of 'taking the high road'. He demonstrated that his dad still managed to raise him into a respectable and honorable person without her help; to the extent he could set aside his grudges and trauma to save the life of a person he'd only recently met.

And he still walked away, choosing his Found Family over her. And every time they look at Suzuka, they'll be reminded of the son whom they let get away. Ryouta, for his part, didn't have to resort to pettiness or ugliness or vindictiveness or ill-will, and that means they can't even smear his character or malign his treatment of them. He's literally better than them, and proved it, and then moved forward in his life with people who actually cherished him, and he let them both know that.

It's not vengeance, but it is a statement of finality delivered without malice or ill-will that they will have to carry in themselves for the rest of their lives. He didn't have to condemn or punish them; they'll do it to themselves.
Indeed, he took away their mental justifications for their actions. Now they have to live with the knowledge of what they did forever, knowing full well what they did was wrong.

Though I think this may end up having negative side effects on the little girl in the long run, as she may come to resent her own parents now.

Ah, of course, she was having "marriage troubles" and only cheated the one time. What cheating subhuman filth hasn't used that as an excuse? If she got pregnant from that single encounter, then that means they immediately went at it raw. She had no qualms about lying to her husband about it and only came clean when it was obvious that the kid wasn't her husband's. I'm just surprised she didn't throw in the "Well, one thing led to another..." line during her explanation.

I won't go so far as to say it feels like a complete retcon, but all of these new discoveries about the parents seem contradictory to what we knew about them at the start of the story. She said her affair partner didn't want kids... because she thought it'd be better for her son if her husband raised a kid that wasn't his? Her affair partner... actually knew about the pregnancy, and would've loved to raise him as his own? So he didn't fight for custody? It feels like our original interpretations of these characters were perfectly understandable, and now with these new revelations I'm left with more questions than answers.

You guys will probably hate me for this take, but I really think after all this character development it'd be terrible for both Ryouta and Akira to end up together. They've grown so far from their original codependency and stand really firmly on all the new relationships they've made. Going back to just the two of them together would feel really weak in terms of story at this point.

Just my opinion though!

If Suzuka ends up resenting them then she can always reach out to Ryouta.

Ryouta and Akira can still end up together just fine after all this character development.

EVERYBODY'S CRYING!

Also, this is a ridiculously close circle of strangers. Akira's dad gave him the Mendel catchphrase now?

We have a term for things like this: Unreliable Narrator. We only had the few viewpoints of the people we've had all this time with no interactions or views from the mom's side. Primarily it's been from a person's memories of a traumatic moment as a child. It's not a retcon because things the character, and us the readers, didn't know is revealed later. We could also just call it Situational Irony if you don't want to agree to UN.

If I've misunderstood your point, then I apologize.

So mommy got banged JUST ONE TIME and got totally creamed :meguusmug: , then she was ghosted by the cucker and gave birth after 9 months (oh my, what a coincidence!), but she realized the sin only a few years later (during which time she had, in fact, tried in vain to have another child with the cucked, as we learnt some chapters ago) just because kiddo face became obviously resembling the cucker instead of the cucked, and only just then she thought about the blood type issue? YEEEESSSSSSSSS Author-san, thank you from the bottom of my hearth for this absolute nonsense!
But then again, mommy panicked and lied because "i cowardly lied, so i could leave the choice to you" Whath??? Which choice? Kiddo was dumped to the poor cuck with no explanation, what did he have to choose from?
Again, absolute nonsense, just because author-san wouldn't take full responsibility for giving us a deliberately scumbag mommy and tried giving her some kind of partial excuse... "The truth is, I wanted so badly to took you with me!", oh man, how sweet of her!

In the end MC should really let the loli die, just for her sake, living and growing with that mommy would be a curse much worse than death.

Absolutely, if; indeed, it was Ryouta's resentment of his bio Mom abandoning him; that made him not want to reciprocate her feelings.

What i am curious now are two things:

1.-
Did the mom actually encourage Ryouta in the Basketball game in the LN, or she absolutely didn't(like i assume happened here)?

2.- Something that i am not 100% sure in what it refers to (even if it leads to the same outcome in context) is who is Ryouta speaking about with his "For both of us" on page 52. Him and Suzuka? Him and the Mom?

Anyway 10/10 chapter. Only getting less emotional at the 5th read.

Overall I did like the that it didn't hide the fact blood ties mean a lot to younger people and that he was genuinely bothered by being completely unrelated to his father but allowing the support system around him to show him that in the end they don't matter. It's a far more realistic depiction then having him from the start not caring about it.

I feel like this arc would have worked well if instead of trying making his mother a sympathetic character the author instead made her someone whose motivations we understood even if we didn't agree with it only.
Good people can make mistakes, they weren't forgiven at the end and it doesn't feel like they should so it's not like they were portrayed as innocent.

The motivation is clear, saving their daughter while dealing with a lot of regrets. Having regrets can make them a bit more relatable, that doesn't make them likeable or forgivable.

Ship sailed but I would have been happy with Ryouta staying platonic siblings with Akira and getting into a relationship with Tsukimori. The big family scene a few chapters ago was very nice and made me wish they could just keep that forever.
I do like Akira and won't be upset when they get together but those are just my thoughts getting into the series late.

Disagree with the Husband, hes been written to be way too sympathetic to the point that hes just a nothing burger asshole. If he was just straight up uncaring about anything besides his daughter, i would have liked him more and he would have been more realistic. The wife being regretful is fine but shes still an evil bitch that is portrayed as way too sympathetic, none of these two are relatable to me because I would never do anything like what they did so trying to play that angle just makes them even worse and more unlikable if instead they were written as cold but honest.

Anyway 10/10 chapter. Only getting less emotional at the 5th read.

1. There was a flashback in a previous chapter where he remembers a woman who came to a basketball game of his, and he seemed to realise it was his mom, which screwed him up and I believe lead in part to him giving up basketball (if I'm not confusing this with a different series, anyway). And it was because she was showing up at events in his life in the background/trying not to be noticed, though his interpretation at that time was out of malice, whereas this chapter reveals it was out of genuine care for him (and regret for having abandoned him in the first place).
That's my read on what we're given in the manga adaptation; I don't know any details as pertains to the LN though, so if you're asking about the novelisation specifically then disregard me here.

2. I keep going back and forth on it, but I think it's Ryouta saying "give Suzuka two childrens' worth of happiness". I interpret this chapter as Ryouta finally acknowledging that his mother did actually always love him, but ultimately he is choosing not to allow her (or his bio-dad, and consequently Suzuka) into his life—because he has a family that he actually wants to build bonds with, who did choose him and have been there for him this whole time.
So he's willing to accept that his mother never abandoned him and that she still loves him; but he's choosing to close the door on any future relationship with her. So he's saying "whatever happiness you'd wish for me, give to Suzuka instead."

"Whatever happiness you'd wish to give me, give to Suzuka instead" is pretty much the outcome i was thinking, so yeah; not a bad possibility/guess.

While it is true i was curious about the novelization, keeping in mind the (interpretation of the) acknowledgement-but-not-forgiveness-plus-closure of this chapter; the fact the cheering on was shown after those other mother-and-son-interactions gives it a... kinda what if feel. As if they're what Ryouta Wanted, rather than what happened.

(those moments still happening and him grieving not having that with her anymore also fits with all else, I'll admit. Even if not my first thought).

Beyond what someone fills the blank with about Bio Mon with all that has been laid on, the way the manga has shown her has been, mostly, hesitating rather than (even re-)acting with the plot. I feel like that has to have some parallels to How Ryouta acts (or Reacts) Throughout the manga (maybe also in the novels).
