Is it an older American car? Sounds like something a Chevy or Ford (or, God forbid, a Chrysler) would do.
OTOH, I just spent $3K getting the climate control on my Toyota sorted out so I have defrost for the coming winter, so to some degree I feel your pain (but not the tingling).

Yeah it's a pretty old and beat up Hyundai, with the paint and plastic peeling off from decay.
What burned up was the cables for the AC fans. Just one more thing to add to the long list of things this shitty thing has broken.
