Another unsolicited advice : visit public libraries ! Here in France, most public libraries have at least some mangas. Trust me, i've made a good use of it, and it was free.

Speaking of which, even though libraries are extremely hard to find here in my country (since there are just a few, and nobody goes there except for public universities students), I am grateful that the first manga I ever read was from my High School Library.
