I rarely watch action anime nowadays but yeah that bothers me too.
I wonder if the blu-ray versions have that?

Probably. I'm very certain they do but it's super bullshit that you have to wait for a bluray to come out because of a single fucking pokemon episode from a million years ago

I know how much you love shouting but also remember that they also darken to censor blood and impactful wounds. Of course they also do it when they want to hide some fleshy parts (even during fights), but for instance I was always annoyed at Jojo's adaptation because sometimes there was more censorship than actual picture.
