(P.S.: Netherland Bach Society bias, I know :meguusmug:)

You could do a whole lot worse than playing Bach on Northern European instruments. (Insert E. Power Biggs being grumpy here.)

Thoughts on the Fantasia in G Major (BWV 572)? Here's Dupré Frenching that one up some as a change of pace....

@Angry_Panda How worse can it get? :worry:

Thanks for the Fantasia. I listened to it and compared it with another Interpretation. Dupre does play it slower (or better said, calmer) but with a certain heavyness that I quite like. Guess I found a new piece to listen to for the next week :hearts:

Well, any number of mid-sized American instruments from the early 20th Century, for example, have basically zero mutation/mixture work - it's 75% 8' stops on 4+" of wind, more closely resembling theater instruments than concert ones. Or some of the 19th Century English instruments with no pedal divisions to speak of.

The use of the North German (or adjacently designed Dutch) instruments is entirely suited to Bach - apologies if that came off as being in any way critical of that choice.
