@Basic_human So there's a lot of theology here, but basically the Catholic belief is that the wafer becomes the body of Christ, and that by receiving the wafer the individual is in union with Christ.
@Angry_Panda just want to be clear, I'm from Calvinism church, so I still use the same theology with Catholic about the hostie.
And I was joking about the punishment and sins, because, yknow, hostie is a real plain flavoured.
It's kinda inside jokes amongst Christians here, and the other jokes is, "oh that's why they'd paired the hostie with wine. Ohh now it's all make sense".
Something like that.
I mean, he did it first, most known example being during the last supper where he shared bread, reprensting his body and wine representing his blood.
as fir the italian/roman cuisine angle, what can I say ? he was technically an Italian if you're willing to be loose with nationality (he did live under the Roman empire)
