This is why I break out the Bach when I have to be head down in spreadsheets for long periods. :win:

I prefer the slightly faster tempo and voicing for the (chorale?) tune in 1, but the somewhat more legato feel and the voicing on the remainder of the parts in 2. Don't suppose you have a celeste stop you can use on this?

I don't know about music theory, but both pieces sound pretty good to me!

Dang...do I have to choose between the two?
Panda said it well. (I had to look up celeste stop as my brain was failing me.) This kind of music tickles my brain is really good ways.

The first one is BWV 711 "Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr" and the second is BWV 721 "Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott". Looking at Youtube, another popular way to play BWV 721 is something like this, with less legato. Perhaps you'll like this too.

Sadly no celeste stop. :meguuusad:
These are the stops on the organ where I primarily exercise:
Manual ISpire Flute 8'Fugara 8'Principal 4'Mixture 2'3-5 f.
Manual IIStopped Diapason 8'Salicional 8'Nachthorn 4'Principal 2'
PedalSub Bass 16'Principal Bass 8'Stopped Diapason Bass 8'Octave Bass 4'
...and then 7 couplers. :aquadrink:

Being grateful for the opportunity to play on an organ aside, one of the greatest issue for me is that the 8' stops on Manual I aren't that powerful/loud, especially when playing an octave lower. BWV 711 as an example, if I'd have used Spire Flute and Fugara for first manual only the deeper parts of the beginning would have felt cut off. I generally have to use more stops on this organ than on the organ I have my lessons with.

Edit: It just feels like it generally pairs better with those somber, calm pieces (like BWV 721) than for example the Toccata et Fugue.

Just for grins, what would you think of the chorale on 711 on II with the 4' & 2', and the left hand on I with just the 4'?
