You may be wondering, "Why does this affect your classwork?" Do you really want to look like a stereotypical nerd in a public space? I would do it at home, but then that'll complicate things in the future and I'd rather not deal with that. So annoying...

Maybe they wanted to read it too? At least where I live, watching manga/anime isn't seen as a nerd only thing anymore. One of my friends used to watch Magical Madoka while counting his AK47's ammo on a table.

Dude they are playing Roblox right now they are the definition of Gen Z normies (I can't believe i'm using that word but you get the point). Anime is seen as normal, but manga? hell no!! It may seem that a way but it's DEFINITELY not that way where I live.

Better to look different than the same. Sure, you'll look strange, but one question could potentially lead to a conversation, a conversation to maybe a shared interest, or discovery of a new one. Don't feel ashamed of what you like.
But, I am called a hermit often, so it is easier for me to sound carefree. Even I'm a bit nervous showing of my interests at home. That said, know that it's your interests, even if you look weird, it's something you like, something that makes you happy.

@yogurtman250 Well, in collegue there were some groupies who thought my open anime/manga fandom was cringe. I would just tell them: "Why would I quit watching my fav stuff for YOU? Would you quit watching your sports shows for ME?"
