Yeah, that's why I have been waiting for the whole game to be finished before diving into it. (Even if I know the plot already)

Playing them in segments with years in between ruins the impact of the big story moments for me. I would totally forget details in between.

But I get it, especially from watching streamers who were confused when playing the new chapters

The Sword Route could be foreshadowing the future of the Weird Route, but it's still only a part of the ShadowCrystal quest and doesn't affect much else. Even then, the WR was hinted at on the deltarune.com "ARG"
(though I won't do it before the full game is out either cuz I bet it'll affect all your save files like UT Geno Route)

Chapter 4 is hype

All I know about the 4th is Gerson is in it, the church is involved, the egg is less cryptic (thankfully), and that sans dances with Toriel
