This song was always intended to be a parody of its time (with its over-the-top consumerism and self-promotion), and it succeeded on that front; it does less well if you make the mistake of taking it seriously. As a dance tune it does what it needs to (it's got a good beat and bass line, and you can dance to it). It's certainly an earworm; the lift of the guitar solo line from Hendrix is a nice nod to the more serious background of the brothers who formed the core of the group. Nothing essential here, but a good touchpoint for the era.
This is the perfect example of a videoclip that in my country almost everyone will take literally and misunderstand, yes. For me, the most hilarious part is all those photographers in bikini.
