The most recent Lego news has revealed that Google is happy and willing to heed an illegal(?) subpeona and turn over literally every bit of data you have associated with them. Dropping youtube is a no-go, but might as well keep any future emails from falling into Google's grubby little hands.

I've used tuta mail and proton mail's iOS apps before. Both are generally shit, but Tuta even more so. I'd spend the quid on Proton, if just for the bonus VPN to pirate with.

As email is inherently unsafe it doesn't really matter which one you use. If you really want secure communication, there's only really encryption to go with--like PGP public key encrypted messages between those you trust.

@pedronimo Yeah, even the those I know which are otherwise very privacy- and security-minded don't use it. My point is that, don't expect any email to be "100% secure--no one can read it".

Proton is really good. The free tier gets you far, and if you're willing to spend precious dollars/euros/etc on a service, my top recommendation would be it. Not only do you get good email, you get a VPN, cloud storage, and all that nice stuff too.
