We did have the recent chapter with Suzu visiting her mother's grave with Daisuke and it ends with her mother's ghost pushing her towards him. So there was a slight bit of build-up for her at least. Plus we all know the girls like him, they just needed a push.

@Hikigaya_Hachiman The author of the light novel said some racist stuff in tweets and potentially alluded to a horrible real-life tragedy in the novel. The anime was canceled and I believe the novel is indefinite hiatus but it's been two years so who knows if it's coming back at this point.
