Usually in these kind of stories the sisters are complete and utter trash, wouldn't be surprised if she pretended to be her "formerly comatose" sister to entrap the prince. regardless of the reason, the mother seems worried whereas the father seems to be fine with it, so he likely had a hand in it.

Getting the "I'f I'm going to die anyway I will take those bastards with me" vibe from this, so followed.
