According to Wikipedia (so, you know, grain of salt), "kare" existed for a while as a gender-neutral third person pronoun while "kanojo" (technically "ka no onna" which was shortened to "kanojo") was, as you say, popularized in order to translate European texts. I don't think I've heard that...

If I decided against "he" I probably would've gone with "it" because Itou and Takahashi are, well, no fans of Niehara lol and Niehara is also much more open about being a monster than Takahashi is. But yeah overall I think "he" makes the most sense from the characters' PoVs.

That's not how I interpreted the chapter, Konomi asked if you can romance girls and her friend said no. I expect the manga to just not have romance at all (maybe Konomi with the butler).

Hmm. This could be a good compromise -- not have the sexual violence tag, just a content warning for this particular chapter. It would ruin some of the surprise though. But that's probably worth it overall. I'll talk it over with the rest of the team. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is what I'm torn about, yeah. Both the gore and the sexual violence tags would give a somewhat misleading impression of the manga as a whole; on the other hand, as others have pointed out, if they're a soft or trigger point for someone they would definitely appreciate having the warning...

I've seen it used for attempted sexual assault, yeah. It seems inconsistent though. So far the thread consensus seems to be gore yes, sexual violence no, so I'll add the gore tag for now and play it by ear in the future.

Even discounting the mangaka's history, and the fact that most magic genderswap manga end in het, all the romcom cliches have been centered on Eito from the beginning. So yeah I'm not surprised. Maybe I'll join the others hopium-ing for a poly end lol.
