This is NOT the twist / direction I wanted for this story. So the Hero, who helped save humanity from the horrid acts of this 'demon lord'...Actually had fun time with him, drinking into the night...? So the demon lord wasn't actually evil incarnate? Just some dude the MC fought here and there...

I actually really appreciate that the "weak hero" is not just senselessly weak, and the story rides on that premise. There was a bunch of stuff I'd rather be completely thrown out about his character, but I overall like the idea that, above all, the actual desire and proactivity to protect...
