    Shikabane Kaigo - Ch. 12 - Final Night - Taboo ①

Just a heads up: For those who’ve already read the original novel, please avoid posting any spoilers here. Let’s keep the discussion focused on the manga! Thanks.

Hyakki Chousho - Kaii Chousa wa Kochira Made - Vol. 1 Ch. 2.2

Creepy creeeepy! Thanks for the updates.

    Countdown - Oneshot

The "girl" stalking him isn’t human. She’s not evil, not vengeful, not even alive in a way we’d understand. She’s something that was never meant to be explained (embodiment of the unknown). MC unfortunately encounters her and has been marked to death. He tries to fight it but that drives him...

Osore: Reiwa Kaidan - Vol. 5 Ch. 48 - Money Transfer

Absolutely great distinction. Though some of the best J-horror walks that line intentionally. It’s not about why it happens, but about how the characters process something they can’t reason their way out of. Western horror usually externalizes the threat - you fight it, outsmart it, or at least...

Osore: Reiwa Kaidan - Vol. 5 Ch. 48 - Money Transfer

Yes exactly! It's a kind of fatalism that’s rooted in Shinto-Buddhist cosmology where spirits, nature, and death coexist without clear hierarchy or fairness. I like it when the horror comes from realizing there’s no human logic to cling to. It’s the same reason why so many J-horror protagonists...

Osore: Reiwa Kaidan - Vol. 5 Ch. 48 - Money Transfer

Yeah, totally - I think that’s kind of the point though. In a lot of J-horror, there’s no moral logic to the curse. You don’t "earn" it, it just happens. That unpredictability makes it scarier for me than the usual "punishment for a mistake" approach.

Osore: Reiwa Kaidan - Vol. 5 Ch. 48 - Money Transfer

Guy with the phone on pg. 14 looks like the cult speaker from ch. 19. Might be interconnected after all.

    Countdown

I've updated the manga description to include this. This oneshot won the RED Newcomer Manga Award (Encouragement Prize) - which is printed on the original Japanese cover page. These awards often recognize artistic potential or storytelling promise, not just plot depth.

    Fuan no Tane* - Vol. 6 Ch. 165 - ♭065 Owari

I like to assume that it's a controlled group or experiment, where everyone’s “A” name marks them as part of some curse and this Owari guy is there to witness it all.

Yuuan no Kanata - Ch. 23

No, but it's really easy to support the author by buying coins to access this manga at Comic Boost. They’re inexpensive, and even a small purchase helps a lot. Also, if you could buy the English release coming this December as well! I think this is the author's first official English publication.

Yuuan no Kanata - Ch. 23

Thank you so much for reading! It’s really sad that the series had to end this way, especially knowing how much potential the story still had. I became a huge fan of the way the author built such a suffocating sense of dread - it often reminded me of Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Kairo with its slow-burn...

    Menkui - Vol. 2 Ch. 6

The series has 5 volumes so far and it's still ongoing.

Maga Maga Yama - Ch. 6 - Suso

You're welcome! Really appreciate your comments. I'll consider Mushroom but not sure about Kuromachi as horror-comedies are not my thing.

Maga Maga Yama - Ch. 6 - Suso

I guess it’s just interesting that there’s some lore behind the mountain, and that the monk in this story (he's the same monk from chapter 1) actually owns it. I really thought this was simply an anthology of unrelated mountain horror stories.

    Menkui - Vol. 2 Ch. 6

Thank you! The TL for this series is actually the awesome Shirokuro. He’s also the TL for Cave Man.

Net Keijiban Hyakumonogatari ~Toshi Densetsu Comic Kaidanshuu~ - Vol. 3 Ch. 15 - Otsukaresama deshita. (Tegure)

The cover illustrations by Ayano Kyou and Izumi Tomoki are more like promotional/atmospheric art pieces - they’re not always tied to the actual stories. It’s common in anthologies like this for the cover to be more about setting a mood than depicting actual characters.

The Cave Man - Vol. 2 Ch. 16 - Ominous

We're almost done with volume 2! Massive shoutout to @Shirokuro.anosi for translating this series - I had so much fun editing and I also got to enjoy the story more without worrying about TL.
