Yeah, totally - I think that’s kind of the point though. In a lot of J-horror, there’s no moral logic to the curse. You don’t "earn" it, it just happens. That unpredictability makes it scarier for me than the usual "punishment for a mistake" approach.

Guy with the phone on pg. 14 looks like the cult speaker from ch. 19. Might be interconnected after all.

No, but it's really easy to support the author by buying coins to access this manga at Comic Boost. They’re inexpensive, and even a small purchase helps a lot. Also, if you could buy the English release coming this December as well! I think this is the author's first official English publication.

Thank you so much for reading! It’s really sad that the series had to end this way, especially knowing how much potential the story still had. I became a huge fan of the way the author built such a suffocating sense of dread - it often reminded me of Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Kairo with its slow-burn...

I guess it’s just interesting that there’s some lore behind the mountain, and that the monk in this story (he's the same monk from chapter 1) actually owns it. I really thought this was simply an anthology of unrelated mountain horror stories.

The cover illustrations by Ayano Kyou and Izumi Tomoki are more like promotional/atmospheric art pieces - they’re not always tied to the actual stories. It’s common in anthologies like this for the cover to be more about setting a mood than depicting actual characters.

We're almost done with volume 2! Massive shoutout to @Shirokuro.anosi for translating this series - I had so much fun editing and I also got to enjoy the story more without worrying about TL.
