What a shame, it was such an interesting manga. I loved the art, the aliens, and the romantic quandary. I hope rather than a rushed ending, the author simply shows it leading naturally in the direction it would go.

While not as physically abusive, Japanese police do love to arrest people and keep them locked until they confess. There is very little due-process, and it's entirely a "persecution" based legal system. You must prove you are innocent, not the other way around.
