I said this on another chapter, but my understanding is that the entity who gave him the deal blocks his recognition of anything supernatural, just like how his books look like normal books to him.
Just like how his deal with the entity causes him to view his tomes of incredible eldritch knowledge as normal books, my understanding is that the same deal causes him to view supernatural phenomena as commonday occurences.
