Funnily the joke came from the original Dragon Ball, where it was clearly explained. Dragon Quest took the joke, but without explanation so people would figure out on their own. And yes it was censored in the west when Nintendo did the localisation. Now with Square Enix is no longer the case.

The whole plot of this series is how they're seducing him to get back into the party. It's even on the title. So the gimmick is how he's a easy guy for huge jugs.

The author is trying for a subtle approach but his storytelling is not up to par, so it ends up being confusing. It doesn't help that he's purposely hiding things from the readers, like what's the deal with the martial artist.
