Since it is stated several time, that she uses her magic on herself without any input from her side, I would exclude that logic. But active vs passive magic sounds possible.

Is it just me or does the magic circle make no sense? She automatically purges all her magic and what she touches while praying. (And that over some distance, see ch 2.) So is that circle stronger than the hero, not magic but magic or another kind of magic?
