I think Fujio might've been the serial killer the whole time? It really didn't suit his character but he was a schizo anyways. If he's not, then a lot of things went unexplained instead of just being in the subtext.

maybe this wasn't selling and they scolded the authors and artists, you can tell that after they beat the cat-demon it suddenly just starts getting super rushed, even the clearly BL thirst traps stopped, i think they'll just focus on the fighting till it ends.
