Also time skip seems on time for me. Jay was aiming to lay low after leaving the village, even fleeing to enemy territory. Very likely that if successful, the next 5 years would have been somewhat uneventful.
Not gonna try to change anyone's mind but this is maybe the third time I'm seeing this sentiment, and got a ton of thoughts about the matter, but ultimately I think the series suffers tremendously without these contrasting timelines on display.
