    Firstly, they shouldn't have added bit about paper being expensive in the beginning of the arc if they decided book is the best solution to everything. Secondly, I think attaching novices to mentors is better then a book for obvious reasons.

    There is actually pamphlet concerning similar problem as that of this party, it's called "Emulation of the Masses". If I remember correctly it describes methodology behind competition. Also borderline darvinist counterpoint of MC was addressed at "How to Organise Competition?" in 1917.
