Jesus fucking christ. I went on a re-reading spree of this manga a few nights ago... and then I did it again, because the story was so captivating-- but this chapter ALWAYS fucking obliterates me. Phos is long gone. Phos has been gone ever since they lost their head -- maybe even before that...

IT BEGINS

Pain. Nothing but pain. Not even smiling through it all.

Re-reading this chapter always hurts, because not only is it the point where Phos' leisurely stroll down the path of despair turns into a straight-up sprint: but the panels themselves are insanely painful, too... Phos' expression is so hopeless in the last few. This manga is painful, man.
