To be fair, we don't see the people who do drop the manga. Feels like us commenters who have kept up with it since the start of the Gojo fight are too invested at this point to drop it, no matter what Gege does.

We're Gojo fans (or Nanami hoes or Maki simps etc. etc.), not manga fans. We attend school every day hoping our crush will turn up, even if it's only in a flashback. T-T

Feels like the manga has run out of ideas. It used to be about pretty funny misunderstandings, and now it's about a basic, contrived romance. This whole "antihero protects love interest through violence" cliche is an awfully dark turn, as you said, and it's the last straw for me. :(
