That's the thing, the general consensus is that the last arc was really bad (which lasted about ~60 chapters), therefore people want it to end instead of it getting worse and worse.
The problem is also that the manga repeat itself quite a bit.

However, he does introduce plot-points and characters, then get rid of them/ never mention them again as soon as he doesn't feel he can make interesting stories out of them...

What people are complaining about is the amount of Japanese characters in a roster of 13 people, when he had legends from any culture in the world at his disposition.
