I liek it so far, guy is getting his confidence back, after what I can assume months to a few years of bullying, those mental scars don't go away easily so makes sense why he still scared of the bully at the start of the chapter, I hope to see more character growth on him.

that part of killing an animal you raised and named kind of broke me, for I did something similar with a few chickens way back on the day, to later find out my parents killed them butcher them and served them for a few meals.
