Sadly, no. These notes give me the feeling of somebody reading over my shoulder and commenting on their opinion of the stuff I'm reading. It's quite intrusive, so I can't _just_ ignore it.

I don't like it when the scanlators add their own observations as notes, like the "Thank Goodness!". It takes me out of the experience.

I think the negative feedback comes from the fact that there are still a lot of untranslated manga out there, so it's seen as wasted effort to re-translate something that is already translated when you could use your talents to bring new content to those that don't speak Japanese. Entitlement...
