here, traditional flat-back portuguese mandolins can have either Preston (precursor to micro-tuner) headstocks or classical styled ones, so I could try both their advantages and disadvantages, and I can tell you that Preston tuners take more work to change strings, as you have to measure them...
Honestly I get it, when I play guitar, it's a classical (nylon strung) flamenco (standard E) or coimbra fado (standard D) tuned, so, besides the eminent tetanus hazzard, there really was no need to change strings
Put new string on my flamenco guitar after always knowing it with the same rusty, deep sounding strings, the new ones (especially the basses) are so clear!!
On other news, my mandolin broke both E strings and due to the strangely long scale length, it's gonna be difficult to find new strings...
I found a website that makes my computer's keyboard work like a Chromatic Button Accordion! This is quite fun because sometimes I like to play music while spotify's in the background and this system is much more space efficient for this layout in comparison to a Piano-style layout on the qwerty
