Seems like a n intentionally "too convenient" plot resolution. As others said it may be a setup ( or two separate setups, Cool has done this before) for something else.

I understand that it's a coincidence now, but I can't help but imagine that once the misfit class actually becomes responcsible for the positions in power that sort of thing of running into one another on opposite sides will become commonplace. And it's also how I imagine the relations of some...

I despise this sort of pacing. If it goes for longer than first few chapters like that (something that isekais sometimes sadly like to do to get to the meat the author wants to write) it'll be a drop for me.
