I vaguely recall cutting a panel that was absolutely incomprehensible to me. in essence, it was just a visualisation the “the more I hit her, the harder she hits me back” phrase, using rice (?) sacks and a wooden crate to analogise it.

Spoilers: He never does end up cutting off her hand, or even trying to. So My rendering of it was probably wrong. in hindsight, it makes more sense to see it as “He needed to deprive her of opportunities to attack”.
