That's kinda the intended experience considering that it was originally realeased in a format where a new chapter was updated everyday for the year it took to finish the novel. The people who read it as it released probably got through this entire arc in the time it took to release a single chapter

This chapter is quite literally Lyle at his lowest and pretty much the moment before the turning point. After this Zelphy takes him on his first job and he proves himself and leaves the first speechless. It's all uphill from here. Too bad it takes so long to get there though
