That is exactly when it's supposed to be used The start of this chapter is taking place in the present, then it goes back in time. This chapter is the exact context black borders should be used in.

I'll never understand why this manga doesn't do the black borders to signify flashbacks now, especially since it used to.

I am not exaggerating or joking in any way when I say that this is one of the greatest manga ever made, and one of the greatest stories I've ever read. Its fun, its engaging, its hilarious, its emotional, its EVERYTHING. I cannot stress this enough: Read. Delicious. In. Dungeon.

This is my favorite outcome for protagonists like this. Instead of staying an anti-social loser and generally disliked, they maintain their core personality despite becoming better, and they gain mass approval from their peers. awesome :wooow:

Another flashback chapter shoved into the middle of the fight to get me to care about whose fighting. Hurray 🥀 this just kills all momentum, and it really makes it seem like this is the only way Negi knows how to tell the audience a characters background.
