Main cast just has more women in general. Hard to say if Naoki will ever move on, he's still single 10 years after executing Watase. Man hasn't gotten laid in like 18 years
The sequel's still ongoing with 21 chapters currently. It has a much darker tone than the original.

Naoki's a broken shell of his former self
More of a mystery vibe, a lot of outside detective work involving death rower crimes
Tighter story pace, fewer redundant...
Unfortunately this is the last we ever see of Sanou so we'll never know what's up with him. I think he's kept ambiguous to screw with Naoki's head and teach that he can't psychoanalyze his way out of everything
It would depend on how interested I am in it / how long the manga is, since I'm doing everything solo rn. But go ahead and drop your suggestions and I'll try to check them out.

Maybe the consequence of originally being serialized in a magazine. The huge amount of flashbacks are the worst part of it for me lol. The author's independently published works have much better pacing.
Lol I checked the raws and it looks like a mistranslation.
On pg 136, panel 1 Asami should be saying something like "Your family's chicken coop burned down and you've been bringing this guy flowers".
And pg 137, panel 1 should be "I find it hard to believe you'd bring flowers for the man...
