It takes some configuration to set up but the person behind the program does try to keep up with changes to the MangaDex APIs to keep it working. I've not seen any malicious activity from running it myself (ads, miners, keyloggers etc.)
PMD doesn't hammer the MangaDex...
Update: I have a crude workaround for the rare CloudFlare 522 errors popping up when I attempt to download a manga using Polite Manga Downloader. It requires direct intervention by me when the failure occurs to fix it on the fly but it seems to work although it might require a retry or two if I...
The item in question is a world-breaker, one of those ass-pull "national treasure" level weapons that often turns up in bad isekais. Rare didn't know they existed and she's learning the hard way.
522 isn't a standard HTML error and seems to indicate a Cloudflare issue ('Connection Timed Out', presumably between CF and an MD server somewhere along the line).
As an experiment I tried forcibly loading the image listed in the log that didn't load (...ae2d.jpg) and got a CloudFlare error page...
Browser: FireFox on Win10, also FireFox on Android phone. Located in Britain.
Some manga chapters, but not all, fail to load a given page with (eventually) a "click to retry" button. Clicking the button doesn't help, it just repeats.
It's always the same page for a given manga. Different...
She thought that the leader and strategist (her old "friend" Wayne) was the most powerful member of the party, knock him out and everything else would be easy. In reality Wayne doesn't rank that high in power levels, skills etc. but he's got that leadership thing going for him. People listen to...
There's a gaiden light-novel story being published telling the story of Louis and his early life. He IS a thug but he's not stupid about it. Rosalie has also civilised him to some extent.
There's an old saying in military circles called The Six P's. Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance. Alia games everything out thoroughly before the few seconds of absolute violence that finishes off opponents before they can react to her and even begin to fight back.
Just wait until Big Sis Pairin finds out Lihaku helped rescue MaoMao. Granny is going to have to pay for the foundations of the Verdigris Palace to be reinforced.
There's an old tabletop role-playing game called "Executives and Elevators". Characters like barbarians, dwarves, trolls etc. from D&D-like games roleplay as corporate drones and office workers. Very meta in its own way.
I've had success using a microwave oven to heat up the glue binding used in tankos so I can pull out the pages for scanning. Don't do it for too long, a few seconds is usually enough to soften the glue to pull them out of the binding. Longer microwave times can damage the pages by scorching and...
I just tried this fix in my own copy of Firefox (132.0.2 regular). The occasional delay of 10-15 seconds between selecting a title and loading the first page still occurs for me, same as when the default value was set to 1. I'm mostly using Edge with Mangadex at the moment and it doesn't seem to...
I suspect they can't read all the "chicken-scratch" handwritten Japanese sidenotes, just most of them. They've missed out a few sidenotes in previous chapters too. Fortunately most notes like this in this manga are simple hiragana and katakana rather than handwritten kanji which is really...
Missing text translation, page 3, bottom left frame -- "もっとゆっくりでもよかったのに", roughly "I would have preferred you to go a bit slower".
I find the translator's habit of arbitrarily breaking words in half in speech bubbles to be distracting and disrupting. They could use a QA on their team or at...
Untranslated texts, page 8 -- Eri-san, top left frame, is thinking/saying "下心がみえてんのよ", roughly "Your ulterior motives are obvious". In the middle frame she's thinking " はーいやだ" which is roughly "(sigh) - nasty".
Page 11, Haruka and Corin exchange greetings, Corin says "Ohayo" and Haruka replies...
The scribbled text on page 26 reads "買ってもらった" which roughly translates to "Got him to buy it (for me)", referring to the notebook and pencil-thing Haruka is holding.
The translation of the web-novel relies on a lot of machine-translation by (I suspect) a non-English-speaker so the grammar and...
