I'm convinced that the author wanted to do a full blown high fantasy series but the editors told him highschool and reincarnation sold more. I wish it stayed in the fantasy flashbacks because the modern setting is just as boring as in Assassin's Creed.

I honestly don't mind the drama. Maybe it wasn't handled in the best way but I'm here for the story. And conflict is the driving force of any story. Be it between lovers, rivals, enemy factions, or even against nature, conflict is what makes a story. Without it, you just have worldbuilding...

The way the author uses color is amazing. I love how the dude's tie has a couple of stripes the same color as Igarashi's hair, signifying that she's always on his mind.
