I don't think he has developed the keen senses to evade the needle, maybe his body is so strong it'll deflect it automatically? But he just got strength in the body by training normally. Maybe he gets injured somewhat but not fatally and that leads him to encounter the noble in person?

@Eridian thats thin logic. If there is only one guard and someone was wondering why, I would first posit that they are runaways before thinking there is only one guard because the princess doesnt need them.

Someone explain to me again about his link with frenna and why he is always so hesitant to use her powers. With manga that release chapters so infrequently I tend to always forget the finer deeper story goals and character motivations.
