Akira has been shown to misremember things as being worse than they were. In chapter 1, it seems like Nana is basically asking for an apology from him. but he remembers the scene now as her telling him that he will never be forgiven.

I think the scene this chapter was to establish to establish that there are kids from other Sapporo schools on vacation as well. So if Akira runs into someone from their old school on the trip, it doesn't look like it just came out of nowhere. Foreshadowing! I hope.
